Recently Foodbank reached out to their corporate partners to participate in National Volunteer Week over the 17th-23rd of May 2021. Axia were quick to jump on board and help out with a day of volunteering in the warehouse packing emergency food relief hampers.
The last year has been tough for many Aussies, first with bushfires at the end of 2019, then COVID-19 at the start of 2020 to the recent flooding at the start of 2021. Foodbank and their volunteer workforce have been essential in helping ramp up food relief efforts on all fronts.
In addition to providing their normal services of food relief, in the last year Foodbank and their volunteers have helped pack and ship over 85,000 emergency food hampers to vulnerable people impacted by crisis.
This hamper packing is a continued effort to make sure a surplus is stored and ready for the next emergency that arises.
Axia’s sales and leadership team spent the day packing hampers which have a set list of 21 non-perishable food items which have been meticulously designed to fit in the box to ensure they are filled the brim with food and no space is spared!
The hampers include items such as: Wheat biscuits; canned fruits, vegetables and beans, tuna, rice, tea and coffee, vegemite, scotch fingers and of course pasta and Bolognese sauce which Axia’s clients have help donate over the passed 18 months of sales.
The corporate partner the day before us made a great effort to pack 712 hampers with 12 staff, so not to be outdone, with 6 staff there on the day, Axia set a target to beat at least 356.
After hours of non-stop packing, and a few breakdowns of the taping machine (probably due to us going so fast), We smashed our target and packed 451 hampers!
It was a great day and team bonding exercise which we encourage all our clients to get involved with. Axia will be sure to beat our previous record when we are back packing in the next 6 months!
As a reminder out of every copier upgrade we do, Axia funds a minimum of 2,000 meals to food insecure Australians through Foodbank NSW & ACT. As of the writing of this blog, to date Axia have helped fund 275,000 meals.
